RTS Operations Pte. Ltd. (RTSO) is pleased to announce that the rail system works on the Johor Bahru – Singapore RTS Link project is advancing steadily and has achieved good progress of about 50%.
After gaining access to the Wadi Hana Depot in September 2024, track installation works commenced. The tracks spans about 5.3km from the depot connecting to the mainline towards Bukit Chagar station, the viaducts, and continuing towards Woodlands North station. Following the official opening of the RTSO Corporate Office in Johor Bahru on 5 February, the company also organised the inaugural RTSO Safety Forum where contractors and partners engaged in discussions on safety. It is a shared responsibility to ensure that works are to be carried out in a safe manner at all times.
The installation of trackwork, which started at Wadi Hana Depot, is progressing well with over 65% of the work now completed. This includes installation of concrete sleepers, running rails and securing them with fastening clips. Looking ahead, we expect the trackwork to extend towards Woodlands North station in Singapore and be completed by July.
The railway civil infrastructure works in Malaysia which encompasses the RTS Link Maintenance Depot, Bukit Chagar Station, terrestrial and marine viaducts has reached approximately 93% completion. InfraCo Malaysia has granted earlier than scheduled access to RTSO into the RTS Link Maintenance Depot beginning 30 Sep 2024 for commencement of trackwork installation and will continue to progressively handover access to the remaining railway infrastructures from the end of the year. With that, the focus at the start of next year will be on the fitout and façade installation works for the depot, station and ICQ Complex as well as remaining civil, architectural, mechanical and electrical installations, and roadworks.
